Seni Sattisorru Claypot Curry Rice @ Brickfields, KL

I was introduce by my friend that the original Seni Sattisorru Claypot Curry Rice is hidden inside Brickfields. The heart of Little India in KL. He mention that, currently this is one of his favourite place for this Indian Curry Claypot rice that brings a satisfactory kick to him.

A place which is rather newly operated which is about 9 months old and did ask the owner on the other outlet mention by other media platform. He mention that that is sort of like another branch but authenticity still remains here as he is the founding person.

Seni Sattisorru Claypot Curry Rice (2)

by Looking at their cooking method and ingredients prepare at the side, I am pretty sure that I am going to enjoy this dish. Easily there are 15 types of ingredient including spices in this table.

Seni Sattisorru Claypot Curry Rice (3)

you get to choose what type of meat you prefer as their main are Chicken, Mutton, Fish, Vegetarian and others.

Look at the thick curries.

Seni Sattisorru Claypot Curry Rice (9)

We order both Chicken and mutton to try it out and I find that mutton is the best option. Love the small pieces chunks which is just nice to bite on each spoonfull. Love the curry spices mild after taste of it as it is pretty fragrant. One thing is lacking is the spiciness. Just of hint of it at the moment.

very interesting too. Maybe also I associate to Chinese type of claypot rice where I do expect some burnt edges at the bottom. Wondering how would it taste like if a burnt curry. Could it be more fragrant?

Seni Sattisorru Claypot Curry Rice (10)

certainly would not mind to go back again and next round would go back by ordering a side mutton curry too. Just by looking at the fiery red colour and the smell of fragrant spices poke through my nose makes me drool.

Seni Sattisorru Claypot Curry Rice (1)

Worth to come a try as it starts from RM 8 onwards. They are operating in this Foodcourt in Brickfields.

Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) @ Ipoh

Drive pass by this place on the highway couples of times few years back when it was under construction. More surprising to me is that a theme park in Ipoh? Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) at Ipoh started operating since June 2017.

MAPS (1)

When it mention Animation park, I certainly do have expectation in it and it is the first in Malaysia. At least it is something different that tons of water park we have in Malaysia.

MAPS (2)

It was our company trip and visited this place during Early December and if I remember correctly, the ticket was price at RM 50 for full day entrance.

MAPS (3)

MAPS (4)

Remember, do not bring in any food and drinks from outside as it will be thrown away at the check points. Some reasons given by the customer is quite funny. This snacks is for my son about 2 years old. (but it looks like at least 800 gram – more like for family)

MAPS (5)

then have to walk across the bridge to reach the main entrance of the park.

MAPS (6)

the rain cover area on the left is also funny. Does not connect you till to the main arena. If it rains heavy, you are expected to run across.

MAPS (7)

MAPS (8)

The first bad point for the park. I was looking around for Maps of the theme park. I cant find any pockets, standee or souvenir shop that has it and have to walk all the way back to Customer Service to look for one. Then was told I could only take one piece as they have limited quantity. I said I have big group with at least 14 pax. Still insisted to give only one. No comment! Common, you are operating on Peak season with SCHOOL HOLIDAY!

Second bad point. Doesnt have map standee on the park to show or point where you are at the moment. At least we can take a picture on the board and use our phone to navigate it around. At least a barcode to scan a PDF copy or a place to tell us where to get the map digitally. Oh well, Malaysian made things. cant complain much.

MAPS (9)

So all of us just walk as it goes. Turn left it is to reach this area.

MAPS (10)

MAPS (11)

MAPS (12)

After we finish rides over here, then we walk to another section.

This ride does not have any guideline. Everyone have to figure out after a while.

MAPS (22)

MAPS (23)

Best of all, this ride does not have a name yet.

MAPS (35)

After the other section, we were again lucky to see so many people queuing and was in time to try out these section before close out for next timing which is 2-3 hours later if I am not mistaken. The 4d Adventure Theater is the most impressive by far. Should not miss this part.

MAPS (26)

Animation and experience are spot on!

MAPS (40)

I think this park is meant for local peeps, as it was suppose to be a Dreamworks Animation park. However the deal collapse. Anyway, I felt that the park will have challenging moments ahead.

  1. To take 2 hours journey to Ipoh for this, I would call it a crap!
  2. The park is not yet ready where there are alot of things are amiss, a simple thing which is map
  3. Some food stands are not in operational
  4. No timing written outside (such as show for today/next show) on the TIME OPERATIONAL Theater

Price for both Adults and kids : RM 70 each. Park is rather small and more for kids. With expectation of it is an animation park, I only saw 2 which animation such as The Smurfs and 4D theater. This park is more suitable for kids. Adults, do not expect anything.

To come here will be at your own discretion. As I find that, the likes of Sunway Lagoon, Legoland or Genting Theme Park will easily outshine this.

The Hype: Tiger Sugar or The Alley Bubble Milk Tea

$

0

The war of bubble tea is back again. Now bringing the 2 latest crazy hype around South East Asia is these 2 leading brands Tiger Sugar and The Alley. So what are your thoughts? Which brand do you prefer?

Image result for the alley

source from Shenzhen Review

The Alley first made its mark in Klang Valley about 9 months ago and had made a huge hoo haa on it. I have heard lots of crazy stories about it and certainly love their little marketing gimmick to make the hype going strong.

I have only just recently tried this drink about a month ago at Kepong outlet. First, for their signature drink Brown Sugar Deerioca Milk with their pearls is slightly expensive. RM 13 for a cup of drink that is fill with milk, brown sugar and milk. Their pearl win as I would rate the best at the moment. It is bouncy and chewy. Would I come back again? Will be only once in a blue moon drink for such price tag. Now they have at least 10 outlets within Klang Valley and is aggressively expending to other states.

Next the biggest hype in Taiwan and Hong Kong is this Tiger Sugar.

Image from Sunway Pyramid Facebook

picture credit to Sunway Pyramid Facebook

Tiger Sugar seems to be leading the pack when it comes to this version of deerioca brown sugar with milk. They have recently open their first outlet in Sunway Pyramid in early January and looking at the queue, you must have the patience to go through it. Their little gimmick with maximum flavour is that you must turn upside down 15 times before you start drinking.

How does it taste? I am not too sure as I have yet to try yet. Too lazy to queue as it is an estimation of 30 -45 minutes. Maybe, next round should go early in the morning to be the first. Eventually I will make a comment on who is the best bubble milk tea in KL.

Maybe should take nice picture of how the brown sugar trail down to make my instagram feed slightly better. At times we do really think of ways how do we want to increase our instagram followers. There are tricks to it.

  1. be hardworking (which I am lazy) place all those nice platting on a corner, nice lighting, shoot 10 – 20 shots to get 1 single money shot. Including at least 2 days 1 post.
  2. be creative (which I am lacking)
  3.  photo editing skills (which I have little about it) maybe I should brush up more in light room.
  4. comment and like other people’s feed. (this is how i did when I was building my blog donkey years ago)
  5. Get an agency to do it for you.

In the heart of Bukit Bintang where Wolo Hotel sits just right in the middle of it. Brasserie Fritz do offer nice experience for their tea set as they have high glass panel with tons of natural lighting coming in. Perfect for those who loves to take OOTD. Celeriac gives you the slight bitterness yet grapes balance it back. a nice combination.

Brasserie Fritz (18)

Starting Chinese New Year celebration with Tiger Beer – Uncage New Beginnings early. They have transform the place back to one of my favourite theme, old Shanghai.

tiger (3)

Upon arrival of course we start off with their signature beer, Tiger and Heineken. Then head to the activities station that some of them I find it very interesting. Not to mention, new year new luck, so first station is to ‘pluck’ angpows containing a lucky draw ticket from the gilded Tree of Wealth before opening the doors to new beginnings.

tiger (4)

Then checking out this of course, would want to see what is going on for year 2019 and I really find that Tea leaf reading is very interesting.

tiger (5)

Why is that so?

tiger (7)

His turn – Add in tea leaves, swirl it, pour the water out then (my turn) turn 3 rounds in how ever angle i want, it could be clockwise or anti clockwise, then hold the glass and flip it upside down and bring it back forth.

tiger (6)

Jeng jeng jeng. This is my version of result. Impress with this guy that in this noisy bits of thing, he can read what is going on with me. I can say it is 85% accurate, as he say out all the conditions first and I just nod to agree further.

tiger (8)

after see fortune telling, of course go to this table. I want to win the mug. Too bad lose all. To gain chips, we have to visit all the activity station to get it or combine with your friends.

tiger (2)

Not to miss out to taking picture with my ‘Kaki Lang’ as I am born in the same year as this character. The event began with a stunning lion dance performance, led by Zhu Bajie (a popular character inspired by Chinese novel Journey to the West), to invite luck – with each of the five lions in the colours representing the brands of the HEINEKEN Malaysia portfolio – Tiger, Heineken®, Guinness, Anchor and Apple Fox.

Starting off performance with:

With the festive mood at an all-time high, HEINEKEN Malaysia Managing Director, Roland Bala, commenced the event with his speech and awakened the dragon for a mesmerizing dragon dance performance. Sek Yuen Restaurant @ Jalan Pudu

Looking for a good classic Chinese restaurant in KL? Look no further for this legendary Sek Yuen Restaurant that had been operating in Jalan Pudu for decades. Residing in this old classic stand alone shoplot that is brightly lit with 70’s neon like as the building outline is making a huge bee line during Chinese New Year.

They are also well known for their dai chow with old classic taste that is mostly run by old folks of family members.

Sek Yuen Restaurant (2)

there is no bookings allowed as they only encourage walk in. I was there last year for the first time to enjoy lou sang. I was told that the history of Lou Sang, they were the first to create this trend out, or they are the founder of Lou Sang Tradition.

Sek Yuen Restaurant (3)

Ingredients of lou sang in here are all made from scracth and fresh. Therefore during CNY and if you are here, it is a must order dish.

Sek Yuen Restaurant (4)

A perfect place for gathering that is transporting you back to the 80’s, with all the wooden frame windows and classic pictures of the restaurant.

Sek Yuen Restaurant (6)

they do not really use salmon as they use other types of fishes, marinate with ginger and their own special oil.

Sek Yuen Restaurant (10)

Sek Yuen Restaurant (11)

Sek Yuen Restaurant (5)

this is their signature lou sang.

Sek Yuen Restaurant (13)

Love the texture of lou sang, as it taste fresh and crunchy. Every bite is with crunch. Sauce is filled with light sweet, sour and hint of bitterness to make it a great dish.

Sek Yuen Restaurant (14)

Sek Yuen Restaurant (7)

When you are in classic restaurant, we order back all the classic dishes such as Sweet and Sour Pork.

Sek Yuen Restaurant (8)

Deep Fried Pork Ball is one of their signature dish. Wrap with fresh popiah skin, pack with punch and every bite is filled with meat. Those who love mince pork like me, then would be a great dish. Slightly crisp on the outside too.

Sek Yuen Restaurant (9)

Sek Yuen Restaurant (12)

Was told this is one of their signature vegetable with homemade fish ball. Quite a unique vegetable that is very crunchy and fish ball is bouncy yet not too dense.

Sek Yuen Restaurant (15)

If you remember your classic food, this is one of the dish that MUST ORDER. Stir Fried Shark Fin with Egg. Generous amount of shark fin, egg fried to perfection and filled with wok hei and indeed a classic taste like when I ate it when I was a kid.

To eat this, you must take a spoonful of it and put it on a slice of cabbage. Then eat it together. Whoola. Perfect!

Sek Yuen Restaurant (17)

Stir fried beef with vegetable. Pretty good too.

Sek Yuen Restaurant (18)

We wanted to order duck as it is their legendary signature. It was sold out when we reach at 7pm, we will definitely go back again to try their other dishes. If I remember correctly, our dinner was about RM 55 per head for dishes above.

They have expended and have the non air condition seating area and air condition. We prefer the classic ambiance hence to sit at the non-air condition section.

Indeed one of a great classic dai chow in KL that gives you old classic taste. Went back a few times after CNY dinner last year and my dad loves it.

Restaurant Zim Sum @ Macalister Road, Penang

Restaurant Zim Sum in Penang is indeed a famous place for Dim Sum. I was told by my dad that they are the old operater that used to operate the kopitiam opposite KDU, over past 2 years they have move to this new premises and they are well known for cheap dim sum in Penang.

One good thing about this dim sum place is that they are pack with variety and I really mean lots of variety.

Zim Sum (3)

I remember that in KDU that time, their dim sum is indeed cheap, starting from RM 1. Now at this new premises, I could not recall the pricing as this was about 9 months ago when I visited this place. Will check it out and update when I am back.

Zim Sum (4)

Zim Sum (5)

In this restaurant, there are no push cart that is moving around. this is a self service dim sum place. What you need to do is bring your Dim sum Card and go to the counter which you want to get your dim sum and bring it back to your table.

Zim Sum (7)

They are separate into sections, from steam, stir fried, fried and paus.

Zim Sum (9)

Zim Sum (10)

Zim Sum (11)

Zim Sum (12)

Zim Sum (14)

If none of the items suits you, then you can look at their giant wall menu that is filled with stir fried noodles and others.

Zim Sum (15)

Zim Sum (18)

I order quite alot that my parents got shocked.

Zim Sum (19)

this is my order for 4 person.

Zim Sum (20)

Zim Sum (21)

Zim Sum (22)

Their Cantonese stir fried noodle not that fantastic.

Zim Sum (23)

Hong Kong Century Egg Porridge just so so as it is too thick to my liking.

Zim Sum (8)

So remember do pick your tray, queue and get your dim sum.

Zim Sum (13)

Before that, you need to equipped your niece, brother, sister, mother, grandmother to hog around all the tables as the tables are ‘JOM’ on first come first serve basis.

overall the food is just so so. Most of the people are here just for the quantity. Not the quality. If it hits long weekend, this place is like a warzone. Everything have to fight for it. Fight for table, fight for dim sum. Crazy!

For foreigners or travelers that visit Penang, this is one of the stop you would want to consider as local dining scene to enjoy the craziness of it.

I am a fan of Wood Fire Pizza. To find one good one in KL is not easy. I was introduce to Patty & Pie at Aman Suria by @yukikotan and certainly it hit all the mark.

Patty n Pie (2)

Their signature of course is their wood fire pizza as the dough are raised and made from scratch. Then only start preparing it upon order.

Patty n Pie (5)

Patty n Pie (4)

Patty n Pie (8)

Even the kids are excited on what he is doing.

Patty n Pie (9)

Patty n Pie (10)

We order their signature fries to start off with. Blue Cheese Fries @ RM 15. One of a great fries. Fried to perfection, crispy outside and soft inside. Blue cheese is not too overpowering which is just nice even to those who hates the taste of it.

Patty n Pie (11)

Then to try more of the choices, we order half half pizza @ RM 38 to enjoy.  This is Quatro Formaggi (white sauce, mozzarella, blue cheese, ricotta, parmesan, rosemary, garlic) and Azzouzi (tomato sauce, ground lamb, tahini, feta, chopped chillis, roasted almond flakes, onions, mint)

Patty n Pie (12)

Carne @ RM 31 (10″) (tomato sauce, mozzarella, spicy beef chorizo, ground beef, beef pepperoni, beef brisket stripes, jalapenos)

Patty n Pie (13)

Patty n Pie (14)

Salmone @ RM 31 (10″) (white sauce, mozzarella, ricotta, smoked salmon, capers, dill)

Patty n Pie (15)

Patty n Pie (17)

Quattro Formagi was so good that we order another one to enjoy.

Patty n Pie (16)

Chicken Swiss Mushroom @ RM 24 & Triple Decker @ RM 28

Patty n Pie (18)

Patty n Pie (19)

Love the dough and texture, soft yet flavorful. A dinner with my ex marketing team. We enjoyed this place alot and a place to recommend when it comes to wood fire pizza.

Recommended pizza to order are:

  1. Quattro Formagi
  2. Carne
  3. Blue Cheese Fries

Burger is not too bad, but pizza are much better.

Their chili is good. Sourish enough that give you a slight punch of heat. Goes well with their chicken rice.

Kar Heong (6)

Roast pork is slightly above my expectation as the crust is crispy, salty enough to my liking and the fat are evenly spread out.

Kar Heong (7)

Kitchen Choice 2 pax chicken @ RM 12. Chicken is tender and juicy. I usually will use the soy sauce to drench on my plate. Love the slight aroma with the sesame and chicken oil.

Kar Heong (8)

Kar Heong (9)

Kar Heong (10)

Koey Teow is just as usual.

Kar Heong (1)

This place is not too bad if you are looking for a decent Ipoh chicken rice. I think it is worth to pay a visit at least once.

Famous Kim Soya Bean @ Petaling Street

In KL we do not have the famous Funny Moutain Soya Bean from Ipoh, but we have this famous Kim Soya Bean at Petaling Street. I never knew about this stall till a few months ago. Usually I visited China Town at Petaling street during night time. Rarely would come during day time.

So for visitors to Petaling Street, this is one of a soya bean stall that you must stop by as usually it is flock by both locals and tourist. There is another drink stalls which is famous that I rarely miss is the famous ‘air mata kucing’ that just sits right opposite.

kim soya bean (1)

This stall had been operating for more than 30 years and currently is operating their secound generation – the son.

kim soya bean (2)

Family business both dad and son in action. Love my soya bean in white sugar and this is smooth and fragrant.

kim soya bean (3)

According to my friend, they are not only well known for their soya bean as their Taufufa is the signature of this stall. I have to second that in a way as rarely you get a smooth taufufa texture. Texture is fragrant just near melts in your mouth. I had 2 bowls.

kim soya bean (4)

I usually prefer my taufufa in black sugar. KL folks love their taufufa with ginger white sugar.

The coffee trend in Malaysia is still picking up as the months go by. We’re getting spoilt with more choices than ever before, but most brands come up short when offering an authentic coffee experience in the comfort of your own home – unlike Nespresso.

Nespresso Malaysia offers authentic flavours from all around the world; a sustainable coffee experience from the cherries they pick to the coffee I can make on my own!

Nespresso (15)

A perfect cup, for a perfect start.

Nespresso (1)

A Nespresso machine is indeed a perfect gift for me. An aroma that is hard to resist especially in the morning, to help me get on with my day.

Nespresso (2)

The Lattissima One is compact enough to fit perfectly in the tight confines of my kitchen. I got it during their recent CNY promo, which ends on 17 February, through their website with a rebate of RM288 off and also received RM88 coffee credit.

Nespresso (3)

With this machine, I can make an espresso or enjoy my usual cappuccino and latte just by adding milk using the built-in milk system.

Nespresso (4)

I am having a Fortissio Lungo today.

My fresh cup of coffee is just a push of a button away.

Step 2: Press the milk button. Once the container is empty, the coffee will begin to pour. Enjoy the aromas that fill the room while you wait.

BOKA4972

I love how thick and fluffy the milk froth is.

BOKA4977

I made my first milk coffee.

Step 3: Just sit back and relax while enjoying your morning coffee.

My Fortissio Lungo is rich and full-bodied (just the way I like it), yet the aroma of the coffee is intensely fragrant. The aftertaste of malty toasted notes reminds me of West Indian coffee.

A great cuppa before starting my day off, made with the perfect machine that’s compact, time-saving and, most importantly, simple.

the only set back will be the price as you order 2 types of soup will easily cost RM 58. So best to come with at least 4 pax.

A place that used to be Tamarind Hills have now transform to their new name The FOOK KL. A light touch of transformation had made this place into Modern Chinese Cuisine dining area. As they are rushing to complete and to be ready for Chinese New Year Gathering or reunion dinner, they are now offering a menu of RM188++/couple.

Fook (8)

Trio of bites. Was told to eat from Left to right. Starting with a mini cone stuffed with raw tuna, spicy century egg salad with cucumber and finish off with Kimchi.

Fook (9)

Fook (10)

Seafood Bisque is interesting as to me it taste a bit like modern laksa base that is pack with different types of ingredient.

Fook (11)

Steamed Sea Bass served with Ginger Soy Sauce.

Fook (12)

For the mains, you can choose from either one. Roasted Honey Duck served with Kailan, Mushroom & Mandarin Orange Sauce, or Chicken Confit served with Ginger Fried Rice. Love the thick orange sauce and the burnt cinnamon stick is just nice. I cut a piece of duck put into my mouth then take the cinnamon stick suck it along with the meat and it taste much better. Gives you a nice smoky aroma of duck and hint of cinnamon yet mild after taste of sourish orange. if they can infuse that 2 together , would be perfect.

Fook (13)

Chicken confit is like our Chicken rice. Nicely done and the chili sauce is spot on.

Rama V Chinese New Year Menu 2019

$

0

Rama V. Rama V is one of a casual fine dine that establish quite well among many folks around the area. Sitting in Jalan U thant where the upscale residence is, fits well with the society there. Having a Thai chef in the house and with the new chef that came on board, I am impress with his cooking. His cooking style is from the Northern Thai. Therefore do not expect spicy flavour like the southern side of like Bangkok or Hatyai. Flavour is more on sourish, clear and fragrant leaves.

Rama V (2)

As for this Chinese New Year, they do have Chinese New Year Menu too. We had the Fortune Set @ RM 468 which is for about 5-6 pax

Rama V (3)

Environment here is slightly different, as they do have private rooms seated outside in this village like houses from 2 pax – 15 pax.

Rama V (4)

Dining area is more on the comfort luxury style.

Rama V (5)

Rama V (7)

As we early, we kick start with their cocktails. I am not a big fan of cocktails but they are certainly impressive. The cocktail are Thai inspired which have elements of Thai ingredients.

If you like something fresh, yet flavour profile is quite prominent, Pinklao @ RM 24.85 whisky, lime jice, coconut water, pumpkin spice syrup is one of my favourite.

Princess Fa-Ying @ RM 24.85
Tequila, Lime Juice, Spice Syrup, Crafted Grapefruit soda, ginger Beer Soda

Rama V (8)

The Royal Dome @ RM 27.45 – White rum, Strega, Spice syrup, orange bitter. this is another of my recommended too, if you like smokey flavour.

Rama V (9)

Khing of Siam @ RM 24.85
Vodka, Passionfruit puree, lime juice, bunga kantan (torch ginger flower syrup) ginger, kaffir lime leaf

If you are explorer, this is a very interesting cocktail as the element they have it in there is like drinking hint of tomyum that is cold yet with alcohol content. worth to give it a try.

Rama V (10)

One of the girls favourite is this Queen Suriyothai @ RM 24.85 -Gin, Lynchee liquer, yuzu puree, lemon juice, egg white, sugar syrup, basil leaf. Refreshing, intersting, sourish, with hint of sweetness yet fragrant foam egg white.

Find that their cocktail is very affordable and these are my recommended cocktails for first timer base on my palate:

  1. Queen Suriyothai (girls can start of with this)
  2. The Royal Dome (for smoky lover)
  3. Pinklao – first perfect glass to go after.

Rama V (6)

So for their set, they do have Thai version of Lou Sang that topped with scallop, thai fish cake, smoked duck and other fresh ingredients. Quite interesting and quite good as the sauces that add in there is a good balance with the ingredient on the plate.

Rama V (11)

Rama V (12)

Starting off with Soup – Golden Shrimp Tom Kha– Spicy tomyum soup with coconut milk, oyster mushroom, lemongrass, stuffed prawn bali and Shrimp rice. The broth is good, mild sourish and spicy then you can taste a hint of sweetness aftertaste that comes from the coconut milk.

Rama V (13)

Main Cource:
Steamed Seabass with Tom Khong Sauce. Not the typical steam fish that is pack with garlic and chili, this version is to enjoy the freshness of the fish meat and clear sourish soup.

Rama V (14)

Stir-Fried Brussels Sprout with Sea Scallops in Thai Royal Sauce. Love the cooking style with the sauce, it would be perfect if the Brussels sprout is the crunchy version.

Rama V (15)

Stir Fried Tiger Prawns with Pia Kong Sauce

Rama V (16)

Personally, I feel this is the best dish in the menu as Rama V Braised Duck in Thai Spice Herbs Served with Kai Lan and Asparagus. Sauce is thick enough, yet every bite is very fragrant with thai herbs. Put it in a way is like Penang Kuih Chap but in Thai version that the soup had shimmer down to thickness. Perfect to go along with rice. Duck meat is best if it is slightly softer.

Rama V (17)

for dessert, we had:  Jasmine Mango Pana Cotta, Pandan Creme Dumplings, Ja MOng Kud (egg yolk dumpling in Wheat Flour Crown)

Rama V (18)

Was told by the waiter that this dessert Ja MOng Kud (egg yolk dumpling in Wheat Flour Crown) was done specially for the royal family in Thai. Quite an interesting texture. Something new to me.

Rama V (19)

I have been to this Thai restaurant in KL few years back for a birthday celebration and I think now is much better.

Top 6 food spot in Seremban

I was in Seremban 2 years ago for a short food trip. Then ask around what are the must eat food for such a short period of time that does not need to travel far. Hence mostly recommended me these few places and now coming up with these top 6 food spot in Seremban.

My 4 hours turns out to be quite a food coma. Lets start off with Golden Triangle. Park your car in the middle so you can access to Location 1-3 in the list below.

They are all pretty nearby as starting my lunch with:

  1. Kau Kee Laksa

One of a classic Laksa place that is famous among these neighborhood where most of the locals will come here for their breakfast or lunch. Currently is operating by second generation and their quality remains pretty consistent.

This price list was taken 2 years ago. Not too sure what is the current 2019 pricing.

top 5 food in Seremban (3)

Seremban Laksa is quite different from Penang as I find this quite interesting. To me its like combination of Curry Laksa + Penang Curry mee. Quite good and o give it a try. Love the noodle texture.

23, Jalan Seng Meng Lee,
Taman Unian, 70200 Seremban

Operating Hours: 12pm – 5.30pm

2. Restaurant Yi Poh

top 5 food in Seremban (4)

Just a stone throw away, just head to Yi Poh to check out their famous Lou Shi Fan and also their Hakka Mee. Most of the folks are here for the Lou shi Fan. Pack with both locals and food hunters around the region, regard as one of a must stop place if you are in Seremban.

Not your typical lou shi fan you get in Penang or KL as the noodle texture is longer, slightly chewy which is interesting and top with the dark soy sauce. I order fried Sui Kow as extra sides. Not too bad as the flavour is different too. Worth to give it a try.

3. Kedai Siew Pau Asia

top 5 food in Seremban (7)

After finish eating at Yi Poh, then just walk across the road to the famous Seremban Siew Pao place. Siew Pau Master is highly recommended by my friend as one of the better or best in Seremban. Be prepare to queue as the queue can get slightly crazy.

top 5 food in Seremban (8)

They have breads too.

top 5 food in Seremban (9)

Fresh and pippin hot Siew Pau. Crispy outside and soft inside. Top with dark soy sauce mince meat, not too salty yet fragrant. I quite like and best to eat fresh over there.

Operating Hours: Daily – 7.30am – 6pm

4. Restaurant Chai Hong (Diamond Chicken Rice)

top 5 food in Seremban (10)

Few years back, I am not too sure if you guys remember that some tourist drop by this shop and his chicken rice bill was RM 500 or RM 1,000 and it went viral. I decided to drop by to check them out too. Restaurant Chai Hong is famous for their expensive chicken rice, even got a nickname among the locals – Diamond Chicken Rice.

top 5 food in Seremban (11)

I am curious what is so special to make them so famous. Apparently, their chicken rice style is exactly like Penang Hainaese Chicken Rice which you can easily get, and certainly believe the owner are from Penang too as their Hokkien slang is like mine.

top 5 food in Seremban (12)

No doubt that their chicken rice is good. Fragrant rice with hint of mild ginger, chicken cook to perfection, drench with sesame and soy sauce to make it oily and fragrant. Chili is good too.

top 5 food in Seremban (13)

Beside that, do have patience while waiting for your chicken rice.Alot diners that drop by to make take away.  They have the typical Penang Hawker attitude too. Will got scolded if you chase them.

Location:
Restoran Chai Hong Chicken Rice

5. Quinn (Seremban Beef Noodle)

top 5 food in Seremban (14)

On The way heading back out and I am stuff with food. Final 2 stop which is Quinn Seremban Noodle which is famous. There are a few and was introduce to this one.

top 5 food in Seremban (15)

their soup base is slightly midler than what we have in KL and not too bad. Their beef balls is a must order. Love the texture and it is bouncy.

I find that the signature of this shop is their dry beef noodle..  Not your average beef noodle that I have had so far. It is drench with their special house gravy, salted veggie, sweet sauce, peanuts, sesame seed. The noodle they use is the silky like Lou See Fan.

top 5 food in Seremban (16)

A unique combination of flavour that burst in your mouth. Not my usual taste that I am used too but it is a great flavour combination. Worth to give it a try

Location:

Love their coffee as it is mild acidic, quite a typical Korean cafe which is done well. Their bingsu is a bomb. Easily beat many Bingsu cafe we have in KL. Smooth, fragrant with macha. This is Green Tea Bingsu.

It seems that modern cuisine is also joining the pack to usher Chinese New Year 2019. More and more cafes, western restaurant is joining in to offer Lou Sang as part of their menu during this Festive Season. Lucky Peaches is one of my favourite dining place in Plaza Arkadia in Desa Park City now offering their take of Lou Sang.

Lucky Peaches (11)

Lou Sang is a big thing during every Chinese New Year and for Lucky Peaches, they have come up with a great combination of a modern twist. Lucky Lou Sang comes with a tweak with fresh ingredients – pomegranate, ebikko, sliced granny smith apple, crunchy curried crabsticks and our own house-made tangerine plum sauce.

Comes in serving size of:

  1. 2 pax | RM 28.90++ or 4 pax | RM 48.90++
  2. add-ons of smoked salmon slices – RM 8++ for 2 pax
  3. 4pax serving is available for takeaway

Lucky Peaches (18)

A new introduction of item into their menu is this Wagyu Tomahawk (Marbling 7) [+-1.2-1.8kg per rack] good for 3-4 pax. A piece of meat that is trending in many restaurants that is offering this meat. Easily weight about 1-2kg and depending the cut and size that they obtain. A long cooking process for this meat as it is not easy to handle yet need to be cook to perfection.

Lucky Peaches (14)

This Tomahawk serve with buttered veggies + roast garlic potatoes and sides of Asian chimichurri, sambal belachan pesto and Dijon mustard RM45++/per 100g, [+-RM540++ onwards per rack]

Lucky Peaches (20)

Lucky Peaches (15)

Seafood platter @ RM89.90++ is served with Chargrilled board of fillet butter fish, calamari, giant Sandakan prawn, Black Chilean mussels and soft shell crab. Their sauce is to die for. 3 of those sauces are equally good as all done by the chef himself.

Favourite of the night is this Smoked duck breast @ RM 39.90++ Served with creamy potato mash, cherry tomato, sauté seasonal veg & red wine reduction. If some of you does not like slightly strong duck taste, then you might not really enjoy it. It is cook to perfection, soft and slightly pink on the meat. Eat along with the mash is a perfect combination.

Lucky Peaches (12)

Corn seaweed tempura poppers @ RM 16.90++ with sides of wasabi mayo & sweet, spicy dipping sauce

Lucky Peaches (13)

If you are here to enjoy their cocktails and German beers, Deep fried crunchy baby crabs @ RM 23.9++ with sides of wasabi mayo & sweet, spicy dipping sauce would be a great side companion. Cripsy inside out and hint of saltiness do pair well with their drinks.

Lucky Peaches (7)

1 Hopf Weisse – a nice aroma of wheat, hint of mild sweetness. Nice for those do not like strong alcohol taste.

2 Salvator (dark beer) – one of my favourite at it is strong, smooth and hint of bitterness does give it extra umph.

For their current Imported German Beer – Paulaner 330ml range, any 5 bottles_rm115+ [regular full price RM 145]

Lucky Peaches (6)

I do on and off come for their cocktail as I find it quite decently price. 1 for RM 17.90++ or 2 for RM 29.90++ (except for tropical tiki island) and was told by the mixologist that their cocktails are made with 45-60ml shots of liquor

1. Kyurigari gin – would be girls favourite as it is easy to drink. Original house concoction and owner’s favourite – ginger beer with a twist of cucumber, shot of blue pea extract + gin

2. I love my gin to be very simple as Roku Gin (Japanese Gin) with just a slice of cucumber and soda water.

3. One of the crowds favourite is Tropical tiki island [1 for 22.90++ or 2 for 39.90++] is their tiki version of long island – freshly squeezed pineapple juice, lychee, tequila, rum + gin

4. Lunar summer is their special cocktail that specially created for this Chinese New Year 2019 only. – a refreshing blend of orange, fresh pomegranate + vodka
